Sarwaja Timur Sdn Bhd was incoporated in 1994 to meet Malaysia's Growing demand for steelworks, especially in the telecommunication, power transmission, as well as other major infra-structure development sectors.  It is a subsidiary company of Sarawak Enterprise Corporation Berhad and an associated company of Sarawak Electricity Supply Corporation.  This strong backing provides a very strong organisational strengths to the company.

Sarwaja Timur Sdn Bhd achieved its quality management system modelled after the ISO 9001:1994 standard in January 2000 to provide greater quality assurance to its customers as well as to complement its existing Total Quality Management practices in the organization. As part of continuous commitment to provide quality products and services to customers. Sarwaja Timur Sdn Bhd has successfully achieved its ISO cerfification up-grading to ISO 9001:2000 in October 2003.

The product area assessed are design and fabrication of steel structures products including hot-dip galvanising, and construction of transmission and other structural steel related projects
